Tour Plan
Day 1: Arusha – Momella Gate (1,500m) – Miriakamba Hut (2,514m)
After breakfast, you’ll be picked up from your hotel and driven to Momella Gate in Arusha National Park. Upon arrival, your guide will assist with park registration before providing a comprehensive briefing about the trek, safety procedures, and equipment.
Your hike begins through open grasslands where wildlife sightings are common, including giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, warthogs, and numerous bird species. An armed park ranger will accompany the group due to the presence of wildlife within the park.
The trail gradually enters lush montane forest, passing the scenic Mayo Falls and the famous Arch Fig Tree, one of Mount Meru’s natural landmarks. Continue climbing through the forest until reaching Miriakamba Hut, where you’ll enjoy dinner and spend your first night.

Day 2: Miriakamba Hut (2,514m) – Socialist Peak (4,566m) – Saddle Hut (3,560m)
This is the most challenging and rewarding day of the trek. After an early midnight wake-up, you’ll begin the summit ascent under the stars, hiking steadily toward Rhino Point before following the dramatic volcanic ridge to Socialist Peak (4,566m).
Reaching the summit at sunrise rewards you with unforgettable views of Mount Kilimanjaro, the Meru Crater, Ash Cone, and the vast plains of northern Tanzania. After celebrating your achievement and capturing memorable photographs, you’ll descend carefully to Saddle Hut for a hot meal and a well-deserved rest.
Spend the afternoon relaxing and recovering before enjoying dinner and your overnight stay at Saddle Hut.

Day 3: Saddle Hut (3,560m) – Momella Gate (1,500m) – Transfer to Arusha
After breakfast, begin your descent through the beautiful mountain forest toward Momella Gate. Along the way, enjoy one final opportunity to observe wildlife, colorful birds, and the rich vegetation that makes Mount Meru one of Tanzania’s most scenic trekking destinations.
Upon arrival at the park gate, you’ll receive your trekking certificate and bid farewell to your mountain crew. Your driver will then transfer you back to your hotel in Arusha, marking the end of an unforgettable Mount Meru adventure.
